At some point I’ll be able to articulate the heartbreak I’ve been feeling over New Orleans’ devastation.

I grew up a lot in the few years we lived there, did a lot of self discovery- but that doesn’t capture it.

I have two tattoos from New Orleans- a duck and a duck butt- but that doesn’t capture it either.

I waitressed at a place where we had to replace the uneaten tortilla chips in the bin after the guests left, and got closed temporarily when a “go-box” exploded with roaches.

We found a palmetto bug on our pillow, and seriously, one flew up at my butt on the toilet. That’s an important piece there.

I had lunch with an ex-marine pal of my dad’s, who apparently was a quite powerful mobster who knew exactly what my mother would have ordered for from the chocolate tray. He hadn’t seen me since I was a toddler, but he stopped his day to take me to lunch.

I went to Graceland alone on my way there.

Those are all pieces, and they’re important, but I can’t put the puzzle together right now.

In the meantime, you can see how a Wiki works in the case of natural disasters.
