Carter and I were driving home after piano lessons- our special Saturday morning time together, when Carter exclaimed:

“You look like Nanny McPhee right after she loses her warts!”

I was delighted and touched- isn’t this one of the moments mothers cherish- knowing that their children find them to be at least as gorgeous as Emma Thompson? There’s something so special about being a Mom that your children are blinded to the realities of life and see only the inner beauty shining through.

“Really?” I asked, “Like Emma Thompson at the end?” I could hardly contain my glee.

“Well, not the end, Mom. The middle. When she’d lost her warts, but still had the huge nose.”
