A Ph.D student in informatics at Indiana University, Kevin is rich in spirit. He wrestles and reads with his kids, does a hilarious Christian Slater imitation and lights up his wife's days. He thinks deeply about many things, including but not limited to basketball, politics, microblogging, parenting, online communities, complex systems and design theory. He didn't, however, think up this profile.

Bob has some party-band raunch in his roots, which includes stints with The Ugly Americans, The Scabs and a lengthy solo career. The Californian is much harder rock than some of his recent albums and was created to lay down tracks of songs that had been, for the most part, live concert only. This isn’t his best album, as a result, but some good songs on it nonetheless. Even more enjoyable — if you have time to listen to someone ramble their liner notes and wax rhapsodic about the Sub-Mariner and dreams of being Dave Matthews‘ friend — is the online commentary in between songs.

Bob comes to Bloomington every once in a while, although he’s currently touring with Dixie Chicks up in Canada and probably won’t make his annual fall trip to Bluebird. (He was supposed to show up last spring but cancelled, or something.)
