I’m still figuring out what I’m going to do after the event (as in, for the whole summer), but I do know I’m going to CHI at the end of the month. Once there, I’ll get to revel in success of students and faculty. Eli Blevis, who has helped me considerably on this doctoral journey, earned an extra pat on the back from CHI 2007 with the highest honor “Best of CHI” for his paper on a framework for sustainable design.
Improv Everywhere (even on TV)
A list of television pilots for NBC includes three of some interest. It looks like the Bionic Woman is going to be modernized, for starters. There is a show called “Business Class” about two soda salesmen on a never-ending business trip. But most of the red flashing lights and beeps are because Improv Everywhere is coming to television. … I wonder if TiVo is smart enough yet to just pick that up for me?

An article in The Guardian today bemoans a report that urban air pollution today is as damaging to our health as Chernobyl radiation. Guardian columnist Lee Hickman offered ten things you can do to counter the effects of air pollution that shortens life expectancy by about eight months.
Step It Up on April 14
On Saturday, April 14, local groups representing religious organizations, neighborhood associations, service clubs, schools, families, student organizations, and other Monroe County communities will march through the streets of Bloomington to the Farmers Market for the Step It Up rally. From 10a to 1p, Step It Up Bloomington! will facilitate presentations by area organizations and businesses with tables of information to help us all find ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. During the course of the event we will hear from Bloomington’s Mayor Mark Kruzan, Congressman Baron Hill, and author Scott Russell Sanders.
