School smarts

Carter was going on about his school hopes this morning:
Carter: and I hope that Joe Schmoe is in our class this year. He’s clearly the smartest kid in our class, so I like being around him.
Me: (only half-awake) How do you know who is smart?
Carter: Because they are always blabbering out facts and things.
Me: hmmmm. [...]

Me: hmmmm. (considering going back to sleep)

Carter: And they’re usually crazy.

    Heh. Have you seen Time (or maybe it’ Newsweek) this week. They claim gifted kids are not well sserved in the public schools (true) and point out the social problems these kids face. Kinda sad, really.
