BOOM (shuffle)

My CHI buddy, Matt Weldon, has been ultra-secretive about his fall project, offering only cryptic Facebook and Twitter status messages about his work and job status. Monday, Matt tweeted a link to BoomShuffle, a web-based music streaming service that is likely the reason for the hush-hushedness.

Guinness, Honda, and Sony are all examples of businesses willing to pay top dollar for a big payoff with a commercial. Words you don’t want to hear as the designer of these marketing commercials: “Back to 1 for Take 2.”

Designed interruptions

Brian Bailey’s research on alerts and timely interruptsions turned out to be very influential in the way I think about designing technology interventions. Whether intentional or organic, a scheme for well-designed interruptions can improve the perceived quality of the experience.

ClipMarks addiction

I’ll admit it. I’m addicted. ClipMarks turns out to fit very well with my existing Internet habits, and it has been a lot of fun to use. The site—which allows you to copy selected images and text from a web page to put some content with the URL—just got bought by Forbes, a company that has expressed some interest in the community for several months.
