The Affilipedia (see the end of this post about the name) is an open resource for affiliate marketers. This wiki contains new information on affiliate marketing, serving as both a how-to and an ecyclopedia. There is also an affiliate marketing blog by Shawn Collins that complements the wiki (or the other way around).
Affiliate marketing is one of those areas where I always thought, “It would be great to do nothing and make money off of it.” Doing nothing gets nothing, of course, so it isn’t that simple. On Affilipedia, there are many pages describing the detail of this revenue stream. Collins describes a sort of history of affiliate marketing that points to blogs, with RSS feeds, as the best way to promote community among affiliates while controlling the signal-to-noise ratio.
I’m hoping Amy finds time and energy to look into all this, because — like car engines and electical wiring — I don’t care if I know how it works as long as I can use it when I want. It’s a big black box, where post-some-stuff is the input and money is the output.
