Vicarious Blogging

I couldn’t go to BlogIndiana, so I sent someone in my place. In between academic research, I used Twitter to follow the action in Indianapolis.

Monroe County Fair

We spent Wednesday afternoon at the fair. It was one fine day.

SproutBox

The fact that SproutBox exists at all can be considered the most important outcome of Bloomington Startup Weekend.

isocket

Startups are active in the Bloomington area. After working on their concept for two years, isocket is starting to put their advertising platform into action.

Boom. Boom.

One of my favorite childhood memories is watching fireworks. Woodstock’s City Park was only about 7 blocks away, but we packed up the station wagon and headed in to park with the rest of the 12,000 residents of the town—4 hours early—to claim our bit of turf with a blanket. The best summers, though, were the ones spent watching the explosions from our rooftop. Now in Bloomington, we’ve taken to a free and worry-free commute to the front yard.

Killing time at Lennies

Carter and I spent a bit of the afternoon at Lennies, in between Camp Invention and a bus ride home Thursday. My boy was almost adventurous.

The long walk to the polls

I have lived in Bloomington for a decade now. My family relishes the ritual of voting on Election Day. We bring our boys into the booth and talk about the great thing we are doing by participating in a vote. Until Tuesday, the only place I have ever voted is in the elementary school across the street.
