Destroy!

Carter, with his two close friends from playgroup were lurking below a long wooden bridge, Robby trying very hard to lure all the three-year-olds in playgroup to their web:

Robby: All Three-year olds, Come on down, we’ve cooked you a tasty dinner!

Three-year-olds continue chasing each other on the slide.

Robby: (With even more music teacher cheer) All Three, Four and Five-year-olds, come on down, there’s tasty dinner!!

Still no reaction from the preschool crowd.

Robby takes it into his hands to convince them with a more hands-on approach. As he nears the slides to begin his sales pitch, I ease over to Carter.

Carter: Don’t worry, Mom. It’s not something they’ll hate.

Me: Is it something they’ll like?

Carter: uh, (suddenly optimistic) maybe.

Me: What is it?

Carter: Uhhh, a game called “Destroy.”

Me: and what happens in this game?

Carter: I haven’t really had a chance to find out yet. (offering a reassuring smile) I’m sure it’s fun though.

A few minutes later, I see Carter lounging on the bridge, casually beckoning to the preschoolers.

Me: So are you the lure?

Carter: Yeah. I’m the decoy. They see me and come in.

Me: Then what happens?

Carter: I’m not really sure, because I haven’t had a chance to tell Robby and Peter that I’m the decoy yet, so they don’t know the plan.

Communication is key.
