Baby Talk Trash

A few years too late for my offspring — like they needed this learning aid? — comes Team Baby Entertainment. The company’s motto is “Raising Tomorrow’s Fan Today!”

Team Baby has a line of officially-licensed sports themed children’s DVDs aimed at teaching baby’s how to appreciate the college team of caregiver choice. So far, there is a notable absence of one particular five-championship basketball program (ahem), but this is football season. There are currently twenty colleges in the catalog, including three Big Ten teams: Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan. (Yes, Will, there is an Irish version, too.)

“The goal of Team Baby Entertainment is to allow parents, grandparents, alumni and friends to share their love, loyalty and passion for their favorite teams with their children” says Greg Scheinman, Founder and CEO of Team Baby Entertainment. “Our product is an informative, entertaining and educational way to introduce a child to the university and/or team you root for.”

Each DVD is customized for a specific team with footage of visual reminders of mommy and daddy’s favorite college. All team sports are included, as well as shots of the mascot, marching band, quirky traditions and landmarks. The school songs are also included, so Baby will be prepared to clap at the right times after scores.

Personally, I see the Kentucky offering and hope they will also come up with a Rivals version. Perhaps lots of UK or Purdue logos clubbing baby seals or coming out from under a bed to eat sleeping children. After all, we want our kids to be well-rounded fans.

He didn't, however, think up this profile.
