Archie's Antics Conversations with Carter Mama Journal Parenting

There’s a bathroom on the right.

Archie: (presenting the WWF catalogue) I changed my mind about Christmas.

Me: (Relieved to be off the hook for an “actual working jetpack”) You have? Tell me.

Archie: I want a bald eagle. (points to the catalogue) A real one.

Carter and Archie were reading the World Wildlife Fund catalogue this morning prompting several fun conversations as I was making breakfast.

The jet pack is looking like Santa’s easiest choice now.

Carter then appeared, suggesting that I might like a Meerkat and reminiscing about his favorite song from a few years back, I’m a gnu.

Carter: Maybe they have an Okapi in the catalogue.

Me: Perhaps.

Carter: Okapi. Those are in Danny Dunn, and in that song. (humming a little) Not a bison, not an Okapi, I’m a guh-nu.

Me: (singing along) I wish I could guhnash my teeth at you.

Carter: Ha! I used to think that song was saying “I’m a canoe.” Then I realized that canoes can’t talk. So then I thought it was gnu. Then I realized gnus don’t talk either, so I went back to thinking it was a canoe.

I can’t wait until he starts listening to classic rock.

Carter, you are a funny child! lol Liam wants a machine to make things invisible. Perhaps we can combine ideas and get the guys a back pack that jets them along and makes it so no one can see them???
